CROUCH
BIDS FOR HONORARY SCOUSER STATUS Paul Rogers 02 March 2007 |

On
the eve of the Premiership showdown with Manchester United, Peter
Crouch has admitted that less than two years after swapping the
south coast for Merseyside, he's become an honorary Scouser in love
with the city of Liverpool. |
"I love it here," Crouch told ZOO
Magazine this week. "I think it's a great city. The first thing that
struck me is how friendly the people are. It's a city but it seems
like everybody knows each other and I like that. "To
be honest, I like it so much up here that I think I'd rather live in
the north now. I prefer it to London and I never thought I'd say
that. I like the way people are friendly and talk to each other.
When you go back to London you really notice how different it is
there." One subject that fans in Liverpool never tire
of asking Crouch about is the robotic goal celebration that
threatened to become more famous than the striker himself last
summer. "People come up to me all the time and ask me
to do it," he admits, "but I can't just do it in the middle of the
street. I'd just feel silly. I don’t know why I did it in the first
place. But the lads liked it and found it funny and so did a lot of
other people. It seemed to make people smile, so I kept on doing
it." So could we see the return of the robot on
Saturday if he manages to find the net against United?
"I don’t know about that," laughs Crouch. "I'll never rule it
out but I think The Robot got a bit out of control! Maybe I'll save
it for a special occasion!" Read the full
interview in ZOO magazine, out now.
